This week
(Step 0: Do the reading first for any of this to make sense!)
Step 1: Return to the topic you selected in those first weeks of the course. You’ve designed a qualitative research project based on this topic, now we’ll be taking a quantitative approach to exploring the same topic.
Step 2: Design a quantitative research question which can be answered through survey research.
Step 3: Thoughtfully design a brief research survey using google forms. You can find instructions on how to use google forms for survey deign HERE Links to an external site.if you need them— this video is not required if you are familiar with the platform or prefer to figure it out intuitively.
Surveys should be geared towards helping you answer your research question and should meet the following criteria:
A. Ask a range of relevant demographic questions.
B. Be anonymous but provide a place for respondents to provide their email to get ‘credit’ for taking the survey.
C. Ask at least 5 relevant research questions using at least 3 different question types (T/F, likert scale, multiple choice, select all that apply, etc. You may give participants the option to enter in their own answer (i.e. an “other” option) but I don’t recommend it because it’s going to make analyzing your results more laborious.
