(Use close reading here)what Andrew Marvell trying to say in ‘To His Coy Mistress was hard for me to understand at first, after reading a few times I was still a little confused but picked up the rhyming towards the end, as well as Marvell talking about his lover. “Coy Mistress” is when someone pretends to be shy and quiet. overall the work of Marvell had such a deep meaning, i wasn’t able to catch it the first time i read it. In “To His Coy Mistress”, I first thought it was his way of speaking his love to a dying lover. After continuing to read on it was clear they had not been together long enough for that as he says “My vegetable love should grow”. When looking at the title, it seems to be hinting at a flirty mistress, and then followed by the lines “to adore each breast”, and “That long-preserved virginity” I was lead to think he was asking her to have sex for the first time. A little unsure about that because it is worded really weird at parts but let me know.
