Overview
In Week 5, you will create a full job description using what you have learned about workforce planning, legal and ethical issues, and job analysis and design. This activity provides you the opportunity to prepare for that assignment by asking you to develop two key components of a job description: essential functions and minimum qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities) for the HR job you chose from the O*NET database below:

Prepare
Using the main occupational keyword search box, then enter human resource. From the results, choose one of the occupation titles specific to HR that is of interest to you. Click on the title to open the full occupational job summary. Carefully review the job summary and typical job titles, the occupation-specific information, occupation requirements, experience requirements, worker requirements, worker characteristics, and workforce characteristics to get a good sense of the scope of the job.
Using the information you find, you will download and complete the Developing a Job Description Template, linked below. Download the template and change the file name to include your first initial and last name (for example, cf_BUS335_w03a1_template.docx_SPeters). Then, answer each section in the template using complete sentences and a professional tone. Be sure to cite your sources of information.

Using the drop-down list under the Task section, locate all the task statements for the job you selected from the list of job titles.
Review all task statements and select those you feel most effectively explain the job.
Use the task statements you selected to create the essential functions that describe the work being performed. Note: You may find it necessary to group more than one of the task statements into a single essential function.
Describe at least three minimum qualifications for knowledge.
Using the drop-down lists under the Occupational and Worker Requirements and Worker Characteristics sections, review all the qualifications listed for the job you selected.
Select what you think are the minimum knowledge requirements needed to develop clearly worded qualifications required for successful job performance.
