Description
Introduction
The aim of this project is to develop a complete business report that targets a specific client (business of your choice) and reveal your findings through a business presentation.
To start working on the project, students are required to form a group of 2 to 3 members. The groups are free to choose a company of their choice, but first, thiscompany and your contribution must be discussed with the instructor. After getting your instructor’s approval, each group can start doing their own research to develop a solid knowledge about the company, analyze and evaluate the current situation either from an internal or external perspective to spot any area to improve in the business through potential IT solutions.
After an in-depth analysis, the group should develop an IT solution (product or service) that is expected to support and enhance the company’s business process. Possible IT solutions that you may consider include but are not limited to business intelligence, machine learning, the internet of things, blockchain, FinTech, data fabric, virtualreality, 3D printing, gamification, etc. After that, you are required to develop an effective business report for the company to convince the management to undertake your proposed solution by demonstrating your research and writing skills.
Specifications
Your report must contain all parts of a formal business report. Refer to the course main textbook for further guidance in report writing. Moreover, it’s expected to write a business report with approximately 4000 words at a minimum.
1) Report structure
The report should have at least the following:
– Cover Page: use the cover page that has already been uploaded in course
content via Blackboard.
– Executive Summary: one page outline for management to read quickly.
– Table of contents: list of numbered sections in the report and their page
numbers.
– List of illustrations: list of all tables and figures along with page numbers.
– Introduction: provides readers with the background necessary for them to
understand the report.
– Body of the report: use headings and sub-headings to show major sections and
make your report easy to read. Include problem statement, gap analysis, all related information on the method of data collection (if applicable), proposed IT solution, and the expected benefit from applying the solution. The findings of the report and discussion of findings. Include visual media (tables, figures, and charts) when applicable.
– Closing: a summary and recommendations (actions) that the client should take to implement the proposed solution.
– Referencing: using IEEE referencing standards. You must have at least six sources cited. You also must include in-text citations in the report body and a reference list.
– Appendix (if applicable): information that supports your analysis but is not essential to its explanation.
2) Report formats and writing style.

2. 12-pt as font size in your normal text
3. Use headings in decreasing-size fonts:
a. 16-pt section headings.
b. 14-pt subsection headings.
c. 12-pt sub subsection headings.
4. Sections and subsections numbering should be consistent.
5. Text alignment: Justified.
6. Line spacing should be 1.5.
7. Tables and figures should be clear and be labeled with numbered captions that
identify and describe them (title).
8. Figure captions must be placed below the figures, while table captions must be
placed above the tables.
9. Standard margins for pages.
10. Make sure that you use proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
3) Presentation
All groups will develop a formal business presentation based on their findings.
Each group will have 15-20 minutes to present their summary report.
All members of the group are expected to participate actively in the
presentation. Absentees will be marked zero, so all members must be present on the day of the final presentation and discussion.
4) Academic integrity
All reports will be checked for academic integrity and originality. You must ensure your report is your original work and that sources of information are properly cited. If any plagiarism or cheating case is inspected in your work, you will get an ‘F’ grade in this course. Be aware that Blackboard uses a plagiarism check tool.
5) Submission
Only one student from each group should submit the business report in (.docx formats) and presentation slides via Blackboard on the due date. Marks deduction will be applied for late submissions.
6) Project Evaluation
The project will be out of 70 marks:
45 marks of it will be for report evaluation.
25 marks of it will be for project presentation.
