BACKGROUND– During Module 1, you will be introduced to the role you will be playing during this course: An FBIHQ Intelligence Analyst in the Counterterrorism Division. You will be given a detailed job description and other contextual information to help you understand the expectations of your role throughout this capstone course. You will also have the opportunity to explore other roles in the analysis field and compare them with your assigned role.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of Module 1, you will be able to:

Explain the role of a national level intelligence analyst working in the homeland security arena, to include the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the role.
Identify the core concepts related to applied intelligence ethics, critical thinking, psychology, communication, and analysis as presented in the job description.
Compare and contrast role/responsibilities of FBIHQ analysts, JTTF analysts, and field office analysts.

Module 1: Get to Know Your Role

Please make sure that you have read the Summary Report for Intelligence Analysts linked below prior to moving forward. A solid understanding of your role is imperative in order to be successful in this course.

There are many intelligence-related roles available in the homeland security arena. For this , however, you will play the role of an FBI Intelligence Analyst assigned to a headquarters unit, with a national-level portfolio. Each module within this capstone will contain a series of events and real-world scenarios that will form the basis for the assignments you will complete. You will approach these assignments from the perspective of your new role as an FBIHQ Intelligence Analyst during this course.
