How to do a Full System Restore for RP5800/RP5810/FlexPro Computers
** Required **
Instrument Full Installation Image Disk(s) OR
The Full Backup Restore Tool (FBRT) – USB drive
Warning: Full System Restore will replace everything on the computer, including
any changes to users, passwords, configuration, new isolates, BCI/BCILINK,
printers, and modems/Vilink configurations since the last full system backup was
created.
*** The restore program will NOT launch off the last Full System Backup disk. It is required to have the
RP5800 Full Installation DVD (or Full System Backup/Restore Tool on a USB). The Instrument PC Full
Installation DVD does not matter if it is for Observa, Vitek, etc.; it will work on either RP5800/RP5810
computers *** (Just for booting ghost application)
Using the DVD Full Installation Image Disk(s) to Restore
1) Close or exit the System Software.
2) Put the Instrument Systems Full Installation DVD – Disk 1 into the CD/DVD drive. Typically, there
are two disks. Always use Disk One. If the DVD drive opens and kicks the disk out, just reinsert Disk
one. Do not put Disk Two into the CD/DVD drive as this will give you an error of “No backup on
optical drive.”
3) Select Start > Shutdown > Restart > OK.
4) Wait 1-2 minutes for the program to load. You will see a DOS box that runs executable files. The
top bar will say X:windowssystem32cmd.exe-startnet.cmd
If this does not load or goes back to loading Windows, then follow the instructions for Changing the
Boot Sequence on page 15.
When you see this screen, then Click on US under Keyboard Layout.
5) Select Restore and Click NEXT.
6) Select DVD and Click NEXT.
2
7) A Message will appear to: “Remove the DVD Boot Media and insert a restore DVD if needed”.
Insert the Full System Backup Disk; Disk 1 if there are multiple disks. Wait until the drive light stops
blinking. Click OK.
9) Click on the drive name (Ghost_001(E) in the following image) and Click NEXT.
3
10) Select Restore.
11) A warning message will come up advising all data will be erased. Click OK.
12) The Ghost program will initiate and the progress bar near the top of the screen will start.
4
5
13) If multiple DVDs are required, the restore will stop and request the next DVD.
Insert the next DVD and select OK.
14) After the restore completes, a message appears if the restore has been successful. If the restore
was successful, select EXIT.
If the restore failed, select RESTART. Go through the process again.
6
7
15) A message will appear to “Remove the initial boot media and click OK to restart.” Remove the
DVD. Click OK to reboot the system. After the computer reboots, log in and confirm that the
Insturment software launches.
♦♦ At this point, this is considered a clean install. If the customer is starting fresh due to
some data corruption or other data-related errors or issues, the system is ready for use. ♦♦
