Please submit your grant proposal assignment that was assigned in Week 1 to the dropbox below.
Here are instructions again for your easy reference.
Select one of the topics below or something of interest to you. You will prepare a brief grant application (4-5 Pages Double-spaced including your financial budget table and budget narrative) to address the following items in the grading rubric. The topic should be focused on a specific geographic community and target population, for example “Addressing obesity in high school students in the Mid Valley school district”. See detailed information below. It may also be helpful for you to find and review a sample actual grant proposal request on-line to understand content of a typical grant.

Grading Scale – 15 points
Grant purpose – 1 point (1-2 sentences providing the purpose of the grant.. This would be similar to your hypothesis in a research project and what you hope to achieve with the money from the grant. Broad terminology of your goal)
Grant Background – 1 point (1-2 paragraphs providing context of the request and grant proposal) Be sure to discuss the current state of the problem (again using data as much as possible, past attempts to solve the problem, etc.) This would be similar to your prior research of a research project and sticks to past facts)
Needs Assessment Qualified– 2 points (Demonstrate the community need and expected short and long term benefits of your proceeding with the project and receiving the grant funding to do so. Be sure you are stating more specific statistics or actual data-points, that you are targeting ….By example, significant car accident rates by teens is that one-in-three teens will have car accident before turning 21. This causes, increased car insurance rates, hospital and health care costs and loss of life which we intend to improve by or proposed program)
Goals, Objectives, Actions, Timeline (Quantified)– 4 points (3 goals which are broad, 2 objectives per goal which are measurable, 2 actions per objective).
Example: Goal 1: Increase Teen Drivers driving skills;
Objective: 1) Advanced pre-driver learning,
Action 1 Objective 1– increase class-time learning from 1 hour to new 5 hour requirement
Action 2 Objective 1 –create new 1 hour on-line learning requirements: Action 3 Objective 1 longer driving practice sessions 3) more intensive driving certification test
Objective: 2) Advanced behind the wheel learning,
Action 1 Objective 2– Increase Drivers Ed behind the wheel training from 10 to 20 hours
Action 2 Objective 2 — more intensive driving certification test (Increase test time from 5 minutes of driving to 10 minutes of drving
Goal 2: Reduce Accident Rates and Mortality Rates;
Objective: 1) Create Awareness of Poor Driving real -time
Action 1 Objective 1– Install speed limit alert system
Action 2 Objective 1 –Install automatic breaking systems
Objective: 2) Eliminate Driver Distractions ,
Action 1 Objective 2– Install automatic cell phone blockage while in motion
Action 2 Objective 2 — Install low volume control on audio devices

Evaluation – 2 points (Discuss how the objectives and goals will be measured and quantified from current state to expected state once grant received and program is implemented) This section describes how you will collect and quantify data to prove your program is successful and whether you met objectives in a quantifiable manner
Projected Impact – 2 point (Why is this important and what are the future implications) This discusses future next steps and impact/applicability to a broader future population or expanded use
Budget – 2 points (Fairly Detailed Income Statement of revenue and expenses associated with the project. Be sure to include the total costs of the program as your expenses and your internal funds, billing or other revenues from the program and other non-grant sources of funds like loans or outside donations, etc as your revenue goals. You need your financial projection to “breakeven” in terms of revenues = expenses…. so your grant funding $ request is going to be the balancing “revenue” number you need to add in if you want to show the grant request as a revenue item. Alternatively, you can show that existing revenues are greater than projected expenses and you will be budgeting a “loss”. This loss amount becomes your grant $ request that you are asking for)
Budget Narrative – 1 point (Detail of how you ended up with the line items in the budget)
