Description
Topic Discussion
In this course, you will develop a grant proposal. As mentioned earlier, format varies depending on the funding agency or source. In this course, you will write a grant for your hypothetical public health project/program.
After reviewing the learning material, think about a potential public health project you want to develop for your county and state. (It can be water fluoridation project, preventive school-based sealant program, tobacco cessation campaign, cancer prevention or education, mental health education, vaccine campaign, dental services for pregnant women, etc.) Think about the population/target and identify the needs of that population.
Find at least 5 articles using PubMed to support your grant writing and develop the project idea. The articles need to be peer-reviewed quality articles to support your topic and problem. These articles should be cited in your initial post and included in the references at the end of your initial post. Save these articles to be added in your proposal later in the course.
For your discussion, start by introducing the potential topic. Discuss why this topic is important for you and for the population of interest. Discuss the needs of this population and how this project might help this target population. Discuss any potential innovation you want to propose. Make sure this is a public health topic. This is a discussion so you can propose multiple different ways to tackle the topic and seek feedback from your classmates. You can be as creative or critical as you want. Use this as an opportunity to brainstorm with your classmates
